What we love about this place
is its great location! It's on the ocean block,
just a short walk to the beach, with no streets to cross (great for
kids, and easy to return for lunch!). It's right in the center of Dewey
(a small beach town), so it's an easy walk to all the restaurants,
bars, shops and recreational activities (Seadoos, boats, etc.) that
make Dewey Beach
a way of life! But it's also slightly set back from Main Street (Rt.
1), and its swimming pool and privacy fence serve as a
buffer. There are only a few swimming pools in Dewey, and
ours is one!
The townhouse is only two
blocks to the Rusty Rudder and Ruddertown, and two blocks the other way
to the Bottle and Cork (best Rock & Roll beach bar on the East
Coast, for the 21-to 39-year-old crowd!). Family restaurants
abound. The town is full of fun on the weekends, and more
quiet and restful during the week.
There really is something
for everyone! We're one mile south of Rehoboth Beach, with
its famous family-oriented boardwalk. It's just a short drive
to the quaint, historic sailing town of Lewes, DE, the southern
terminal of the Cape May, NJ, ferry. Delaware Seashore State
Park begins at the southern end of Dewey Beach, Cape Henlopen State
Park (where Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean) is just past
Rehoboth to the North. Chincoteague and Assateague Islands a
bit farther away are a great getaway for a day!
